Welcome Back Aug. 1st

Dear Concord Family,

I hope all of you had a relaxing and rejuvenating summer and are ready
to start a new year.  We are one of the only professions that provides a
reset and restart each year.

We have an exciting school year ahead of us without construction
and a lot of new and ready with some strong systems for learning,
behaviors, and communications.  Our theme for this school year is
Better Together from Sherlock Gnomes. Some of you may have watched
the movie, but here is a clip to familiarize yourself with the song.
Please take some time to listen to this song and think about how
this message can be personalized for you as an educator and for
your students.  We will share what this song means to you and
your students when we come together in August.

You and your significant other are invited to my house to socialize
and get to know each other better on Thursday Aug. 23 starting at 5:00.
You can swim, eat, drink and socialize. I will have beverages and snacks.
You can bring a snack to share as well. My address is
4261 Bailey Lake Drive Woodbury, MN  55129.

Here are our plans for the Back to School Professional Learning.
There is a considerable amount of time for us to become Better
Together and learn from each other, collaborate in our PLC’s,
and get ready for our students to arrive.  I know the importance
of this so we will ensure our time together is focused and
purposeful on building our strong Concord Family, focusing
around our School Improvement Plan and learning about
Personalization.

I am looking forward to another fabulous year and please let me
know if I can support you in any way.  Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Susie

Summer Updates- July 2, 2018

July 2, 2018 Update

Dear Concord Family,

I hope you are enjoying your summer and enjoy your Fourth of July.  I just got back
from a fun time in Chicago and am enjoying the change of pace and time with family
and friends.    I wanted to update you on the summer happenings.

Rodney and his team are busy with Kids Club and Wise Guys.
Fun field trips and happy kids fill our school. Mike, Tom, Dave, and Ed
have been busy cleaning and getting the school looking nice for next year.
We have been cleaning and organizing as well. Thank you Danielle who
was my partner in crime:)

A lot of our Concord team has been learning about behavior systems,
personalized learning, technology, reading and writing strategies, and more.
I just read Restorative Discipline Practices. This book provided me with some
additional strategies to utilize when solving problems with students.
I will share some of my learning in our welcome back days. I also read article
entitled Somali Student Achievement in Minnesota.  Which provided me with a lot
of background knowledge on these student’s stories and how we can best
support all students.   I have some Personalized Learning books ready for
reading by the pool. I love the time to read and learn.

Please welcome our new fourth grade teacher, Amy Anderson.  She comes to us

from Bloomington with five years of experience and is working on her reading
licensure.  She is student focused and she is excited to join the fourth grade team.

Please welcome our new .5 Speech Teacher, Isabelle Pohl.  She has been working
within the district for 8 years. She will be joining Dayna Anderson on the speech team.

We have been busy hiring Special Ed Paraprofessionals.  Please welcome
Rachel Bolin, Madison Rodgers, Arianna Owens, and Tanya Thomas to the team.
Jess Ulrich moved so we have one more opening.

We are looking to fill one special ed paraprofessional and our reading corps positions.
Please pass the this information on to anyone interested.

Here is there approved budget. 2018-19 PTO Budget

I will continue to update the blog throughout the summer and look for another
update in August.

We are looking to set up a time for the School Improvement Team to meet in August
to look at results and set up a plan for next year. I will send out the details once it is finalized.

Let me know if I can support you in anyway.  Happy Fourth of July and enjoy your
summer.
