Using MAP data to inform instruction

Inquiry into using the MAP Data

Look at the Descartes/ Continuum of Learning according to their RIT score to determine what are the next steps for instruction.  
  • Log in
  • Type in your username and password
  • Click on View Reports & MAP Growth Reports and Learning Continuum


Choose the Fall window- Your name- Reading test

Choose the strand you want to focus on.


You will see the ranges with kids names listed on them.  You can choose the RIT Range or the kids names.


Highlight 2-3 skills or concept you will focus on in Conferring or Small Group instruction.  This can be the Learning Target for the group as well as the focus of all modeling, feedback, and assessment.skills.PNG

October Data/ Progress Monitoring Data Meetings- Oct. 17 & 18

Why?
Progress will help is get to know our students as readers and mathematicians using the most updated data. (MAP, FAST, MCA)
Determine student needs and plans to meet their needs during WIN Time.

Refine WIN Time to implement Tier 1 reteaching based on formative assessments and Tier 2 interventions and extensions and GT reading so collaboratively we meet all student needs across the grade level.

What?
Data Sheets sent separately for confidentiality

How?
Progress Monitoring Protocol
Select a facilitator, note taker, and timekeeper
Review norms
  • We will start and end on time.
  • We will come prepared with realistic agendas and stay on topic.
  • We will be present and use devices appropriately
  • We will be respectful of others opinions, feelings, perspectives, and assume positive intent.
  • Look at the bigger picture, not only what impacts you, but what’s best for all kids, and be willing to be flexible.
  • We will be professional and confidential in and outside of meetings.

  • Progress Monitoring data- Reading and Math
  • No growth- We need to move kids to be appropriately challenging them based on RR, comprehension checklists.  Use PLC to discuss students not moving.

  • Reading & Math Interventions- Need to be using the intervention to Fidelity, taking attendance and Weekly Running Records to monitor progress
  • Daily Guided Reading
  • Math Preteach/ Reteach

Can’t yet - Seesaw is hopefully coming out with an update this October sometime….
Can students save their work, then work on it at a later time (w/o keeping the site open??
They can edit their work after they post it to their journals - you need to change that in the settings - under the wrench - students can edit their posts
Students then click on the three dots and Edit Item
Can students edit the folder names?
No - only the teacher can do this

3-5 Lesson Study Collaborative Classroom hosted at Concord

A consultant from The Center for the Collaborative Classroom will be at Concord modeling lessons from Making Meaning and Being a Writer on Oct. 10.  The lesson study follows a cycle which includes group planning, group observation of the consultant teaching a lesson and group debrief/questions time.
